The DM

Queue AJR . . . Our relationship started with Courtney "sliding in" to the DMs in March of 2021. Well, this is slightly true.

In reality, Courtney and I met each other under less-than-ideal circumstances... for me. When I met Courtney, she was actually on a group date with one of my friends. Immediately, Courtney stood out to me as strikingly gorgeous and her jovial personality lit up all of Billy Bobs. However, I really respect my friend and "Bro Code" was not to be broken under any circumstances. So that whole night, I was just a guy down on my luck. Courtney and I did have one conversation on the way home that night about my love for the band, AJR. I especially love to rock out to this Indie Pop group when I'm doing one of my favorite pastimes, skiing.

A month had passed since we met, and I posted a picture to my Instagram story with my buddies skiing Breckenridge. This is where Courtney "slid in" and made the first move messaging "queue AJR." We immediately struck up a good conversation and we started texting (upon receiving confirmation that she was indeed single). For a long time, I had wanted to enter a co-ed sand volleyball league. And I thought it was a great excuse to hang out and get to know Courtney better! So we joined the league together with some of our other friends! Admittedly, we didn't finish towards the top of the standings that season. However, we lost that battle but I say I won the war! This is because after that season, I convinced Courtney to go on a date with me!

The dating season in our relationship was truly special. Courtney is such a pleasure to be around and her vivacious personality can light up any day. We went to sporting events, murder mystery parties, traveled across the United States, and attended a lot of weddings together. Courtney quickly got invited to my family's weekly dinners at El Fenix and I got to visit Courtney's family for the holidays. Throughout the course of dating Courtney, I realized we share a lot of the same values. We cherish our relationship with God, our family, and our friends! We both share an optimistic view on life and love to experience the gifts God's given us! During this time, I realized I couldn’t live without Courtney by my side!

The Engagement

I asked Courtney to marry me on February 5th, 2023 on the cliffs of Grapevine Lake! With much help, I think we pulled off a near perfect engagement. I wanted to make Courtney feel super special and loved on this day! Therefore, we planned three special surprises based on our key values.

The Wedding

We're pumped to celebrate our wedding with all our friends and family on October 14th in Atlanta! Be sure to bring your dancing shoes and a large appetite—it's going to be a great party!

We surprised her with the engagement in the most California-esque location Dallas can provide (Courtney is a Cali girl). We also bought her a Bible with her new last name!

We surprised her by making sure her whole family could be in Dallas for the big day. Additionally, my whole family was able to attend. Huge shout out to my sister, Amberley, for capturing all the photos of the Big Day!

And finally, we put together an engagement party with all our friends that have had an impact on our life!
